Hema’s journey into spirituality began early in life, growing up in a close-knit joint family in Southern India (Chennai). From a young age, chanting mantras and listening to spiritual discourses were integral parts of her daily routine, fostering a deep connection with spirituality.

She graduated with a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Madras and spent over 18 years in various accounting roles across corporate companies. Despite the demands of a busy career and motherhood, Hema maintained a strong commitment to physical wellness through daily yoga practice. Over time, she realized that a holistic approach to well-being—encompassing the mental, emotional, and physical aspects—was essential to leading a balanced life and overcoming the challenges that came her way.

Her spiritual journey deepened as she explored different yoga and meditation practices. She attended the Integrated Amrita Meditation Technique, a combination of yoga and meditation taught by representatives of Mata Amritanandamayi Math (MAM). Her passion for Hatha Yoga grew after completing the Yogasanas program offered by Isha, and she further deepened her practice through Isha's “Inner Engineering,” “Shoonya,” and "Samyama" programs, where Sadhguru’s teachings inspired her to continue on this path.

With over a decade of dedicated yoga practice, Hema has personally experienced the transformative benefits of yoga, motivating her to share her journey with others. She became a certified Classical Hatha Yoga teacher after completing the rigorous 21-week, 1750-hour teacher training program at Sadhguru Gurukulam, a program designed by Sadhguru to equip teachers with the skills and experience to offer authentic Classical Hatha Yoga.

Outside of her spiritual and teaching endeavors, Hema is passionate about traveling, particularly to spiritual and natural destinations, not as a tourist, but as a traveler seeking meaningful experiences. She is an active volunteer with Our Village Our Responsibility, a nonprofit organization supporting rural villages in India, and also teaches English to children in a village school through online classes. In her spare time, she hosts an Online Tamil Radio program.

Hema has been calling Dallas home for the past 25 years, where she lives with her loving husband, daughter, and their adorable pet dog.
